MeterByte provides three progressive training levels: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.

Beginner Level dials feature both numeric labels and visual markings to support foundational learning.
Intermediate Level dials include visual markings only, helping learners focus on pattern recognition without numeric cues.
Advanced Level dials are stripped of both numbers and markings, challenging technicians to rely solely on precision and experience.

At the Intermediate level, dials include reference markings but omit numbers to encourage visual estimation and pattern recognition. Mixed Dials include meter images with either 4 or 5 dials. In Practice or Test mode, technicians are exposed to both formats to strengthen their ability to interpret varying layouts and dial sequences.

The free version offers access to the Practice/Test page with a limit of 10 questions. It’s designed for individuals who want to complete basic sessions. No additional features or modules are included.

Practice Mode lets you build confidence in analog meter reading through self-paced, hands-on training. If an incorrect reading is entered, the correct value is immediately displayed for learning reinforcement. The timer continues running until all questions are completed or the session is manually ended. Upon completion or early exit, a grade report with your score is automatically generated.

Test Mode is designed to evaluate your meter reading knowledge and skills under timed conditions. During a test session, correct answers are not displayed, and a countdown timer is set for a fixed duration. The test will automatically conclude when time runs out, or you may complete all questions before the timer expires.

Define training parameters across your organization, including:
  • Enable or restrict access to Practice and Test modes
  • Choose allowed meter formats: Analog, Digital, or both
  • Select the number of dials per meter image
  • Select available difficulty levels: Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced
  • Choose permitted read directions (e.g., left-to-right, right-to-left)
  • Enter the number of questions for Practice and Test sessions
  • Enter passing grade for Practice and Test sessions

User Preferences let you adjust key training settings to match each meter technician needs. You can control things like how many questions appear, how much time is allowed, whether dials are shuffled, and whether grade reports are emailed to administrators. These settings over-ride options/preferences that are set at the global Company level.
